Introduction
The Network will host a series of activities in states and territories. The aims of these activities are to:
- promote the importance of research within policy and practice forums on ageing at state level
- promote opportunities for collaboration between different researchers and universities
- explore opportunities for funding of research at state level
- provide two-way communication between the Network and state-based ageing networks
- explore opportunities for researchers to get better access to State Government controlled data sets.
State-based activities are being planned for the second half of 2005 onwards and information about specific activities will be posted on the website as details of events are confirmed.
Participants in state-based activities
The intention is to have a range of stakeholders involved in any state-based activities. These are likely to include representatives from each of the universities that undertake ageing research or education programs, policy staff from the State Government office responsible for ageing issues, consumer groups representing older persons, professional associations, community and residential care industry representatives and other interested persons.
