New South Wales

 
Driving Better Longer Seminar – the Network, along with COTA (NSW), the Curran Chair Health Care of Older People and the Rehabilitation Studies Centre at the University of Sydney, are pleased to be supporting an Australian Association of Gerontology (NSW) seminar featuring the AAG Gary Andrews Visiting Fellow Professor William Mann. The seminar will take place from 1.30 to 4.30pm on 13 November 2008 at the Sydney Mechanics School of Arts. The seminar will include presentations by interstate researchers along with an assessor and client of the Driving Assessment Centre, Royal Rehabilitation Centre Sydney and will conclude with a panel session.  Click on the image or here to link to a copy of the seminar brochure.
 
The Ethics of Technology in Ageing: What can it do? What should it do? – the Australian Association of Gerontology (NSW) in collaboration with the Network, Baptist Community Services and the Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care will be presenting the above seminar from 9.00 am – 3.30 pm on 28 August 2008 at the Mary Jane Barker Room, Y Conference Centre, 5-11 Wentworth Avenue Sydney. The seminar will include presentations on the challenges and opportunities arising from the use of technological innovations in the care older people and will be followed by a panel discussion facilitated by Jennie Brockie (presenter of the Insight program on SBS). Victorian Seminar Series - Preparing for an ageing society - The Ageing Well Network, Ministerial Advisory Council of Senior Victorians, Monash Research for an Ageing Society (MonRAS), Council on the Ageing Victoria, Brotherhood of St Laurence and La Trobe University have collaborated in providing an exciting new series of seminars across 2008. Western Australia

 
A WA Workshop on Responding to Social Isolation and Loneliness Amongst Older People was convened by Professor Duncan Boldy, WA State Convenor for the Network. The workshop was hosted by the Centre for Research on Ageing, Curtin University of Technology on 6 June 2008. Around 70 people participated in the workshop, with the majority being service providers along with stakeholder representatives, policymakers and researchers.
