Governance

The National Convenor of the Network is Professor Hal Kendig, who has overall responsibility to the granting bodies for the activities of the Network. He will actively lead, initiate and facilitate research development, and collaboration and excellence across the Network; represent the Network at national and international forums; liaise with senior decision makers in ageing and potential funders; and manage central hub activities such as communication programs.

Professor Kendig chairs a Management Committee, which is responsible for the general directions and major decisions related to the activities of the Network. The Committee will ensure that activities are multidisciplinary and span over the four Thematic areas. They will oversee the shared research programs, such as international visitors, data archiving and new researcher strategies. The Management Committee will also lead national research coordination and advocacy, and share accountability responsibility to the ARC and NHMRC. Members of the Management Committee include senior researchers who are the major partners in the Network and the Chair of the Advisory Group.

Governance of the Network is strengthened by an Advisory Group, which has senior representatives of government, consumer and industry groups. This group has several functions: provide advice on priority research needs, promote research partnerships, communicate with key individuals and organisations, and provide review and feedback on the Network activities.
